Check of a cranked shaft

1. Carefully check a cranked shaft on existence of damages and make exact measurements of necks of radical and shatunny bearings. Necks of radical bearings and shatunny necks can be chiseled to three times so it is possible to establish a shaft with loose leaves of bearings of the repair (smaller) size. Diameter of shatunny necks is identical to all types of engines.
2. Clamp a cranked shaft between centers the lathe (or put necks of bearings in prisms) and by means of the strelochny indicator measure palpation on an average neck. Palpation should not exceed size of 0.06 mm. Otherwise it is necessary to replace a shaft.
3. Measure gaps in radical and shatunny bearings.
4. Well clear loose leaves of bearings and put them in beds of bearings of the block of cylinders or in rods.
5. Put on a material "Plastigage" slice (plastic "wire") on a neck of each radical bearing and on a cover of each radical bearing with the enclosed loose leaves. Tighten bolts the moment of an inhaling of 65 Nanometers. A shaft after that do not turn.
6. For check of gaps of shatunny bearings it is necessary to put a rod to a shatunny neck and put “Plastigage” slice on the top part of a shatunny neck (shooter). Put a bearing cover with the loose leaf and tighten nuts the moment of an inhaling of 30 Nanometers. As the shaft cannot be turned more, measurements are carried out on two shatunny bearings being in NMT.
7. Unscrew covers on radical bearings, on shatunny bearings turn on both covers in turn.
8. By means of the measuring ruler entering into a set of "Plastigage" measure the crushed strips of a material in the widest place. If this size exceeds 0.17 mm for radical bearings, it is necessary to replace covers of bearings new, and it is necessary to mean, whether necks earlier were ground.
9. For check of gaps of other bearings it is necessary to check a cranked shaft and to make measurements on two other shatunny bearings. If there is no “Plastigage” set, but you can use a strelochny nutromer, it is possible to make measurements of gaps of radical and shatunny bearings by described below way.
10. Establish covers of bearings with the enclosed loose leaves according to numbers of bearings on the block of cylinders and tighten bolts the moment of an inhaling of 65 Nanometers. It is necessary to pay attention to that loose leaves got on the former places by all means. If gaps of shatunny bearings are measured, it is necessary to enclose loose leaves in rods and in covers and to tighten covers former nuts, having tightened them the moment of 30 Nanometers.
11. Measure internal diameters of bearings. Thus it is necessary to observe the direction of measurements And and In and places of measurements 1 and 2. Thus it is possible to define a deviation from a circle (And and In) and konusnost size (1 and 2). Write down the received results for each bearing.
12. Measure one after another diameters of all necks of bearings by means of a micrometer. Thus besides make measurements in certain places which are designated by shooters. Write down results of measurements for all necks of bearings.
13. Subtract results of measurements for diameters of bearings from results of measurements for internal diameters. The result will represent a gap in the bearing (radical or a rod) and should correspond to the size specified in Specifications.
