Check of the established generator


At normal movement the lamp of control of a charge should go out. Otherwise, malfunction consists in the generator or a tension regulator. First, check electric connections of the generator. Check, whether correctly will pull a driving belt. Further check can be carried out only on the removed generator, however previously it is necessary to check all safety locks.

Check of a regulator of tension

1. Turn on the voltmeter between positive and negative poles of the storage battery.
2. Start the engine. At start tension can decrease to 8 In (at external temperature +20°С).
3. Lift number of turns of the engine to 3000 rpm. Thus tension should make from 13.5 to 14.5 V.Eto specifies that the generator and a regulator are efficient. Tension of the generator (onboard tension) should be higher than tension of the storage battery that the battery in the course of movement was charged.
4. Check stability of work of a regulator of tension. For this purpose include a driving beam and repeat measurements at 3 000 rpm. The measured tension should not be more than 0.4 In earlier measured values.
5. If tension does not correspond to demanded sizes, worn-out brushes of the generator, weak springs of brushes, a faulty regulator of tension, the faulty diode, break of a winding of a stator or defective contact rings of a rotor can be a cause of defect.
