Removal and installation of automatic transmission



The description of operations and the instructions relating at the same time to RKPP and AT, are provided in the subsection Removal and RKPP installation for turbodiesel engines (TDI).

In the real subsection the differences concerning AT are described only.

1. Suspend the engine for a head of cylinders, using for this purpose the crane.
2. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection at AT, disconnect directing a cable.

3. Wring out a screw-driver draft of the switch of transfers (1) at the lever (4). Remove a lock bracket (3) at a support. Remove draft of the switch of transfers at a box and take aside.


Bolt (2) it is not necessary to turn on.

4. Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove the holder of the submitting pipeline of the pump of the hydraulic booster.
5. Press hoses of a cooler of ATF, for example, the VW-3094 or HAZET-4590 tool. Weaken collars and remove hoses.


Collect the flowed-out oil a rag.

6. Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove a guard (arrows on an illustration).
7. Take out a stopper from an opening of a cover of the converter of a torque. Unscrew 3 nuts and disconnect (an arrow on an accompanying illustration) the converter from a conducted disk of coupling. Turn the engine a head for a pulley of a cranked shaft to the right that nuts were in an opening.


The converter of a torque is between the engine and a check point and is the liquid coupling.

8. Remove AT by analogy to RKPP (Removal and RKPP installation).

At removal of AT from the engine wring out the converter from a conducted disk. Protect the converter in AT from loss for what establish at a box casing the device for a clip and clamp. If such device not to put, at removal of a box watch that the converter did not slip out a box.

9. Before AT installation measure distance between a flange of a box and a persistent surface below at a carving finger. It should make about 22 mm. If the specified distance is equal 10 mm, the converter is inserted incorrectly. In this case carefully turn the converter so that it slid off down.


At the wrong installation of the converter the conducted disk at installation of a box collapses.

10. Further installation is carried out in sequence, return to removal. In addition take into consideration the following.
11. To fastening of the converter apply only original nuts. The converter fastens to a conducted disk the moment of 60 N of m.
12. Replace bolts of fastening of support of a box. Bolts fix the moments presented on an illustration.
13. Adjust draft of gear shifting.
14. Check ATF level in the main transfer and in a box.
